Be the page AI answers cite.

Tell us the search you want to own and the page on your site that should answer it, a landing page or your homepage. We’ll send you a proposal; once you’ve said yes, we check where it stands today and tell you what the page needs.

How do I get my website cited in Google’s AI Overview?

By being one of the handful of pages Google already trusts for that exact question. In practice that means a page that is indexed and eligible for snippets, answers the question directly in its first lines under question-led headings, carries a named author with real credentials, and is referenced by other sites Google trusts. Most pages fail on the last two.

Check the page.

Every search your clients make now has two answers: the page-one results and the AI Overview above them. Both are built from a handful of pages Google trusts for that question. Evergreen exists to give your page the best chance of being one of them: a page on your own site, structured the way Google and AI read, backed by your Newspage coverage relating to that search and a specific Newspage story that points at it.

We never promise rankings or AI citations: what Google shows is Google’s decision. What we can show you is exactly why it is choosing someone else today, and what the cited pages have that yours doesn’t.

Start with your home page if that’s where clients land, or tell us the search you want to own and we’ll tell you whether you need a new page for it.

How it fits with Storybuilder. Storybuilder builds the story: a national piece on the search you want to own, with your page named as its source. Evergreen builds the page that story points to, so what Google and AI find when they follow the link is worth citing. Story without page, or page without story, is half the job. Storybuilder includes Evergreen; Evergreen on its own is for pages you already have coverage behind. Read about Storybuilder.

“Can’t I just ask an AI?”

You can, and with the right tools it will show you today’s results and give you a tidier page. What it can’t do is put a national news story behind that page, earn links from domains Google already trusts, or build on the media coverage that backs up your expertise. That’s what we do.

Questions

What is Google’s AI Overview, and where does it get its answers?

The AI Overview is the generated summary Google shows above the normal results for many searches. It is written from a small set of web pages Google’s systems select for that query, and it links to them as sources. Those sources are usually pages that already rank well, answer the question directly and come from sites Google treats as credible on the subject.

Why does Google cite someone else’s page and not mine?

Usually one of four reasons: your page isn’t indexed or isn’t eligible for snippets; it doesn’t answer the question in plain terms near the top; it has no named, credible author; or nothing else on the web points to it as a source for that question. The Scan tells you which of the four it is, with the live results to show it.

Does my home page count, or do I need a new page?

Your home page is the answer to one search: your name. For almost any other question your clients ask, you need a page that exists to answer that question. Give us your home page and the search you want to own and we’ll tell you honestly which it is.

Do I need special code, schema or an llms.txt file?

Google’s own guidance says there is nothing extra you must add to appear in AI Overviews: standard indexing and snippet eligibility are the entry requirements. Structured data such as FAQ markup helps machines read the page but doesn’t earn the citation on its own. We include the technical list in every Evergreen brief so your developer has it anyway.

Can’t I ask ChatGPT or Claude to do this for me?

You can, and with the right tools you’ll get a tidier page and today’s results. What you won’t get is a national story that names your page as its source, links from domains Google already trusts, or a page built on coverage you’ve already earned. Those are the things that move a citation, and they’re the things Newspage does.

How quickly will I see a result, and what do you promise?

We promise the check, the brief and the story, and a recheck two weeks after the story runs. We never promise a ranking or a citation, because what Google shows is Google’s decision.
